Passing Storm at Longshaw

Not one of my best, I had hoped it would come out a bit better, maybe it is the composition. A 70 second exposure at f11, 19mm focal length, with big stopper and a square circular polariser.

The clouds were sweeping by, heading towards Higger Tor and beyond to Sheffield. The action of the big stopper has allowed the clouds to motion blur, and smooth the water on the pond at Longshaw Estate. It did had a few ducks messing about. However they moved out of the scene leaving no trace of their existing during this 1 minute and 10 second exposure.

I decided to do a mono conversion using the yellow filter in Lightroom and I am not sure which one works best.

  1. Nice photo – Just to be different I think I like the colour one best – but then they are two quite different pictures with the big dominant blue of the colour one then the foreground and the rock and trees on the left balanced by the line of the clouds disappearing into infinity, on the black and white. Just two nice pictures, really.
