Sweet Milk Cap

Sweet Milk Cap (Lactorius subdulcis) is a mushroom that grows at the base of Beech trees in the autumn. It produces a milky substance if the gills are damaged. It tastes sweet to begin with, but leaves a bitter aftertaste and is generally not recommended to eat.

I cheated with my lens, at 40mm and camera setting on macro to achieve this image. A close 1:1 crop to get it into the frame with the bokeh of the riverbank in the background. I do not always carry my 100mm with me, and camera mirrors and sensors are sensitive when changing at the best of times, and preferably not outside.
