Fading Sunset Over Damflask

I was going to the gym, however on my way home from work, the sky was full of sunset and clouds, and I decided to give the gym a miss and dash home for my camera and kit. Damflask Reservoir is only a couple of miles from my home, even living this close it can be difficult to plan a shoot and to get the timing right.

This was a 5 minute exposure with a LEE Big Stopper. I added another minute from the calculated exposure as the light was fading, to keep some detail from the hillside.

The lost village of Damflask occurred after the great flood of Sheffield back in March 1864 when the Dale Dyke Reservoir breached, taking many lives from nearby and from the city. It is owned by Yorkshire Water. It is also the home of Sheffield Viking Sailing Club. The reservoir is popular with locals and for walks to Low and High Bradfield
